Any overseas citizen who is at least 18 years old and complies with the requirements established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) is eligible to work in the UAE. In the UAE, there is no upper age limit for employment, however employers must pay more for employees over 65.

Based on their academic backgrounds and skill levels, foreign employees are categorised into three categories:
Category 1: If you possess a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Category 2 : If you possess a post-secondary degree in any subject.
Category 3 : Having a high school diploma.

Upon the complete submission of documents, it usually takes about 5 working days for the Ministry to issue the work permit.

What is the validity of the work permit?

A work permit is initially valid for 30 days and can be renewed for an additional 30 days. You have 60 days to stay in the nation during which you and your employer must make arrangements to get a residence visa, an Emirates identification card, and your labour card.

 

You can live and work lawfully in the UAE if you have both a residence visa and a labour card. Depending on your intended purpose of travel and the discretion of the UAE authorities, residence visas for the country can be obtained for 1, 2, or 3 years.
